About Sew Keeli Chic

I’m a wife, a Catholic, a cubicle dweller by day and sewing machine driver by night. I live in the central Texas area. I’m a child of the 80s from a gritty industrial town in Texas. I’m native Texan.

My knack for sewing runs through my lovely mother (Donna), her mother (Verna Lou) and my beloved great grandmother (Lucy Marie). I believe it was my granny’s form of Ritalin for my busy bottom! Through my teens, I had very little interest in sewing but always had my hands in something crafty.

With two girls in the house, my mom could frequently be found altering prom dresses or creating the most beautiful Christmas and Easter dresses. I won’t forget the late night, last minute, elaborate Halloween costumes. During this time, the closest I came to sewing was walking across my mom’s patterns spread on the living room floor.

Years have passed since then and now I’m cherishing those memories and wishing I would have paid closer attention. It’s a very satisfying feeling to hear your mother, whose sewing talents you admire greatly, brag about your sewing ability. Ultimately, I believe, it’s a God given gift that I inherited.
